I work with teens (ages 12-21) who identify, are questioning, or coming to terms with their sexual orientation or gender identity. I am trained in, and specialize in, and have experience practicing LGBTQ affirmative psychology for over a decade.
Being a young person has its challenges, and navigating heteronormativity and heterosexism can make it even harder. As your therapist, I work not only to support you on your journey to self-acceptance, but also as your activist fighting for equality.
Together, we will work to connect and process your feelings in safe and affirming way. You will learn effective tools to explore and develop your LGBTQ identity to its most fullest and vibrant potential, and discover your inner resilience enabling you to manage familial and community homophobia and other intersecting social injustices.
In addition to being a therapist, I designed and developed Rainbow Youth Summit Leadership and Empowerment Camp, in partnership with Safe Schools Desert Cities. A camp where, on scholarship, we bring together up to 40 self-identified LGBTQ youth for three-jam-packed-days of identify exploration, self-empowerment, and resilience training in a campsite setting environment.
Here, the six principles of LGTBQ Affirmative psychology are learned and explored.
I hold individual, family and group therapy sessions (inquire if interested).
